Biography
Austin "Slim" Green began repairing saddles as a teenager while living in Texas and Oklahoma. He eventually began making and hand-tooling saddles and even crafted some of his own tools by hand. He crafted "Buckaroo" saddles, a style specific to the Northwest, as well as a Texas or Southwest style, characterized by an oak leaf pattern. A film entitled "Slim Green, Master Saddle Maker" can be found in the New Mexico State Film Library. [source: Dana Everts 4/28/1988]
