Biography
His first encounter with an anvil was at his greatgrandfather's place near Pecos. The family had to make their own tools, but he insists he caught the forging bug later...[H]e became an assistant to a blacksmith named Tomas Arrey. He was supposed to do the grunt work while Arrey smithed. "I spent all my time watching him at the forge." He apprenticed with Arrey for five or six years before setting off on his own.
